About The Guitar

Parts of the Guitar

There are two common types of guitars: acoustic and electric. Acoustic guitars come in steel string and nylon string and can be played without amplification. Electric guitars require an amplifier to make a sound that can be heard properly.

Fret Numbers and Fretboard Direction – Up/Down

Frets are numbered from the guitar nut toward the guitar body. The nut is 0 for open then the first fret is 1 then 2, 3, … moving up the fretboard toward the body of the guitar (Ascending). Toward the body of the guitar is moving up the fretboard and toward the headstock would be moving down the fretboard (Descending).
