E 6th string tone

Step 1: Tune the low E 6th string to the tone above.


To tune without a tuner: You will need an E tone from another source (Piano, Guitar or Online or a good guess) Tune the E 6th string to match. 

A 5th string tone

Step 2: Tune the A 5th string to the tone above


To tune without a tuner: Use the low E 6th string to get a tone for the A 5th string. Place your left index finger on the fifth fret of the low E 6th string and pluck the string. This will produce a 'A' note. Tune the 5th string to sound exactly like the note you are holding at the 5th fret of the 6th string, this will tune the 5th string to 'A'.

Step 3: Tune the D 4th string to the tone above



To tune without a tuner: Use the A 5th string to get a tone for the D 4th string. Place your left index finger on the fifth fret of the A 5th string and pluck the string. This will produce a 'D' note. Tune the 4th string to sound exactly like the note you are holding at the 5th fret of the 5th string, this will tune the 4th string to 'D'. 

G 3rd string tone

Step 4: Tune the G 3rd string to the tone above.


To tune without a tuner: Use the D 4th string to get a tone for the G 3rd string. Place your left index finger on the fifth fret of the A 4th string and pluck the string. This will produce a 'G' note. Tune the 3rd string to sound exactly like the note you are holding at the 5th fret of the 4th string, this will tune the 3rd string to 'G'. 

B 2nd string tone

Step 5: Tune the B 2nd string to the tone above.


To tune without a tuner: Use the G 3rd string to get a tone for the B 2nd string. Place your left index finger on the fourth fret of the G 3rd string and pluck the string. This will produce a 'B' note. Tune the 2nd string to sound exactly like the note you are holding at the 4th fret of the 3rd string, this will tune the 2nd string to 'G'.

Step 1:  Tune the hi E 1st string to the tone above.


To tune without a tuner: Use the B 2nd string to get a tone for the E 1st string. Place your left index finger on the fifth fret of the B 2nd string and pluck the string. This will produce a 'E' note. Tune the 1st string to sound exactly like the note you are holding at the 5th fret of the 2nd string, this will tune the 1st string to 'E'.
